The Jan Vishwas Act 2023: Conception and Development
- The main objective of the Act is to decriminalize such minor offenses which do not cause any harm to public interest or national security.
- Under this act, an effort has been made to promote 'ease of living' and 'ease of doing business' by decriminalizing 183 provisions of 42 central laws.
- This Act provides for civil penalties or administrative proceedings for such minor offences.
- Al the violations were punishable with imprisonment of up to 5 years as of General Provisions under the Environment Protection Act (Section 15). This has been amended under the Jan Vishwas Act, 2023 to replace imprisonment with ....
