Report on AI Governance Guidelines
On 6th January 2025, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) released a report titled "AI Governance Guidelines Development"
Background
- In November, 2023, a sub-committee was constituted by the MeitY to analyse gaps and offer recommendations for developing a comprehensive framework for governance of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
What is AI Governance?
- AI governance refers to the processes, standards, and frameworks designed to ensure AI systems are safe, ethical, and fair while respecting human rights. This is crucial for mitigating risks such as bias, discrimination, and unintended consequences in AI applications.
