Vikas Engine Restart for Reusability
- On 17th January 2025, ISRO achieved a significant milestone by successfully demonstrating the restart of its Vikas liquid engine at the ISRO Propulsion Complex in Mahendragiri.
- The Vikas engine, a key component in powering the liquid stages of ISRO’s launch vehicles, plays a pivotal role in the agency’s ambitions for stage recovery and reusability in future space missions.
- The test involved firing the engine for 60 seconds, followed by a 120-second shut-off period, and then restarting the engine for 7 seconds.
