BIS Foundation Day Marked by New Initiatives
On 6th January 2026, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) celebrated its 79th Foundation Day with the launch of multiple initiatives.
- The beta version of the BIS Standardisation Portal was introduced to integrate the entire standards development lifecycle on a single digital platform, enhancing transparency and efficiency.
- The SHINE (Standards Help Inform & Nurture Empowered Women) Scheme was launched to empower women by promoting awareness of Indian Standards through self-help groups and community networks.
- Additionally, the BIS-SAKSHAM (Scheme for Acknowledging Knowledge, Skills and High-impact Merit) Annual Excellence Recognition Scheme was launched to systematically recognise outstanding contributions, skills, and high-impact ....
