SC Issues Comprehensive Directions to Curb Student Suicides in HEIs
On 15th January 2026, in a landmark intervention addressing the rising mental health crisis among students, the Supreme Court issued a series of directions on student suicides in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) in the case of Amit Kumar v. Union of India.
- The directions issued by Justice J.B. Pardiwala and Justice R. Mahadevan are based on the recommendations of a National Task Force (NTF) constituted by the Court in 2025.
