‘State Finances 2023-24’ Report
On 31st December 2025, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India K. Sanjay Murthy released the second edition of the publication on State Finances 2023-24.
- The report analyses the fiscal position of all 28 States for FY 2023-24 and provides a 10-year trend from 2014-15 to 2023-24.
Key Findings
Revenue Receipts Composition
- In FY 2023–24, total revenue receipts of States amounted to Rs.93 lakh crore.
- States’ Own Tax Revenue (SOTR) formed about 50% of the total, followed by the Union tax share at 30%, grants-in-aid at 12%, and States’ Non-Tax Revenue (SNTR) at 8%.
