New Census Rule Notified
On 11th March, 2022, Centre announced Census (Amendment) Rules, 2022 by amending Census Rules, 1990.
Major Highlights of Census (Amendment) Rules, 2022
- Amendments will allow online self-enumeration in the upcoming Census and National Population Register.
- Amendment has been inserted in clause C of Rule-2 to include “electronic form” and “self-enumeration” in questions to be asked during census enumeration.
- It inserted an extra clause in Rule 6 as 6D, which says: Without prejudice to any other provisions of these rules, a person may fill up, complete and submit the census schedule through self-enumeration.
