Ujjwala Effect

According to a study by the World Resources Institute (WRI) India, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana has helped improve air quality and reduce health risks from air pollution.

Major Highlights

  • Greater penetration and usage of LPG as a cooking fuel is estimated to have prevented at least 1.5 lakh pollution-related premature deaths in the year 2019 alone.
  • It has helped in avoiding at least 1.8 million tonnes of PM2.5 emissions in 2019.
