Cairo Declaration: The Arab League’s Vision for Gaza
On 4th March 2025, the Arab League Summit in Cairo adopted Egypt’s Gaza reconstruction plan as a “comprehensive Arab strategy.” The summit took place a day after Israel halted humanitarian aid to Gaza at the conclusion of the first phase of the Israel-Hamas Agreement.
- The Cairo Declaration follows the Bahrain Declaration from the last Arab League Summit in Manama in May 2024.
What does the Declaration entail?
Gaza Reconstruction and Administration
- Establishes a Gaza administration committee led by Palestinian technocrats for a transitional period.
- Proposes a trust fund for recovery and reconstruction, supported by Gulf nations.
