Sarus Circuit for Conservation and Eco-Tourism
- In March 2026, the Uttar Pradesh government announced plans to develop a “Sarus Circuit” to conserve the Sarus Crane and promote eco-tourism.
- The Sarus crane is the state bird of Uttar Pradesh and the tallest flying bird in the world.
- The circuit will be developed across wetlands in Mainpuri and Etawah districts.
- Key locations include Kirthua, Sahas, Kurra Jarawan, Soj and Saman in Mainpuri, and Sarsai Nawar and Parauli Ramayan in Etawah.
- The project is being implemented by the Forest Department through the Uttar Pradesh Eco‑Tourism Development Board.
