Visit of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to India
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney visited India from 27th February to 2nd March 2026, marking a renewed phase in India-Canada bilateral relations.
- The visit resulted in several agreements on trade, energy, technology, education, and defence cooperation.
Key Outcomes of the Visit
- CEPA Negotiations Launched: Terms of Reference finalised to start negotiations for the India-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
- Uranium Supply Agreement: India signed a long-term contract with Cameco, Canada for supply of uranium ore concentrates.
- Critical Minerals Cooperation: Both countries agreed to collaborate on exploration, mining, processing and supply chains of critical minerals.
