WHO Launches First Global Framework for Pathogen Origins
On 4th September, 2024, the World Health Organization (WHO) introduced a new global framework aimed at streamlining the investigation of the origins of novel and re-emerging pathogens with the potential to cause epidemics or pandemics.
- This is the first unified, structured approach to investigating the origins of a novel pathogen.
- It has been developed by the Scientific Advisory Group for the Origins of Novel Pathogens (SAGO).
