Child Nutrition Report 2025
On 9th September 2025, UNICEF released a report, titled “Child Nutrition Report – Feeding Profit: How food environments are failing children”.
- The report reveals how unhealthy food environments are contributing to the worldwide surge in overweight and obesity in children and adolescents.
Major Highlights
- Obesity has now surpassed underweight as the more prevalent form of malnutrition globally, affecting 1 in 10 school-aged children and adolescents (188 million).
- Underweight prevalence among children aged 5–19 declined from nearly 13% in 2000 to 9.2%.
- Obesity rates in the same age group rose from 3% in 2000 to 9.4%.
