Delhi Sultanate: Political System & Governance
The Delhi Sultanate lasted from 1206 CE to 1526 CE for almost 320 years, and its establishment and expansion produced a powerful and efficient administrative system. Administration during the Delhi Sultanate was based on the Shariat or the laws of Islam, and political, legal, and military authority was concentrated in the Sultan, so military strength became the chief factor in succession.
