Feudal Polity in Early Medieval India
Early medieval society was not essentially characterized by lords and peasants, it was far more complex. It was actually a Brahmanical ideological invention. Brahmanas, temples and monasteries helped social, economic and political integration. The early medieval centuries were marked by the gradual shaping of regional societies. The Gupta Empire laid the foundation for feudal practices through land grants.
