K Visa
- In September 2025, as US President Donald Trump tightened H-1B visa rules with higher fees and restrictions, China moved in the opposite direction by announcing a new K visa for foreign science and technology talent, effective 1st October.
- The K visa is a new category created by the State Council of China to attract young international talent in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
- Eligibility includes:
- Foreign graduates from top global or domestic universities/research institutions with at least a bachelor’s degree in STEM.
- Foreign professionals engaged in education or research in STEM fields.
