Muslim League and Its Political Evolution
The All India Muslim League, founded in 1906 at Dhaka, emerged as a political platform to safeguard Muslim interests under British rule. Initially loyal to the British and focused on securing separate electorates, it gradually transformed into a powerful voice for Muslim identity and rights.
Under leaders like Aga Khan and later Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the League shifted from seeking safeguards within a united India to demanding a separate homeland. This evolution culminated in the Lahore Resolution of 1940 and ultimately the Partition of India in 1947, making the League a decisive force in shaping South Asian history.
