Oju Hydroelectric Project
Recently, the Union Environment Ministry recommended environmental clearance for the Oju Hydroelectric Project on the Subansiri River in Arunachal Pradesh.
- The Oju Hydroelectric Project will be developed by Oju Subansiri Hydro Power Corporation Pvt. Ltd., located about 5 km downstream of Redi village in the Taksing block of Arunachal Pradesh.
- It aims to tap into the Subansiri basin's vast hydropower potential, contributing significantly to India's renewable energy capacity.
- The project lies close to the India-China border, giving it geopolitical importance in addition to energy significance.
