AI-based National Pest Surveillance System
On 15th August, 2024, the Centre launched the AI-based National Pest Surveillance System (NPSS).
- This digital initiative by Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare utilises cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to offer timely and precise pest management advisories.
Aim
- To reduce the dependence of farmers on pesticide retailers.
- To inculcate a scientific approach among farmers towards pest management.
Key Features
- Analysing Data: NPSS will analyse the latest data on pests using AI tools to help farmers and experts in pest control and management.
