Pilot Project to Transform Fair Price Shops
On 20th August, 2024, the Indian government launched a pilot project to rebrand 60 Fair Price Shops (FPS) across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh as 'Jan Poshan Kendras,' aiming to enhance nutrition offerings and improve income levels for ration dealers.
- These centres will store 50% of their products as nutrition-rich items, with the remaining space allocated for other household goods.
- FPS Sahay application, Mera Ration App 2.0, and various quality management tools were also launched.
