Awaza Political Declaration
On 8th August 2025, the third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3) concluded in Awaza, Turkmenistan, with the adoption of the Awaza Political Declaration and the formal endorsement of the Awaza Programme of Action (2024–2034), a landmark framework to accelerate sustainable development for the world’s 32 landlocked nations.
Objectives
- To coordinate international action to overcome structural and geographical barriers faced by LLDCs.
- To strengthen trade and infrastructure connectivity, particularly for nations without direct access to seaports.
- To promote innovative investment models and flexible transport corridors that ease the movement of goods and services.
