India & Philippines Upgrade Ties to Strategic Partnership
From 4 to 8 August 2025, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of the Philippines paid a State Visit to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- India and the Philippines agreed to elevated their relationship to a “strategic partnership,” agreeing to strengthen defence and maritime cooperation, launch direct flight connectivity, and initiate negotiations on a new trade agreement.
- The India-Philippines Strategic Partnership is guided by the Plan of Action (2025-2029) adopted by the two countries on 5 August 2025.
