India & UNWFP Launch Rice Fortification Project in Nepal
On 1st August 2025, India, with support from the UN World Food Programme (WFP), has launched a collaborative initiative to strengthen Rice Fortification and Supply Chain Management in Nepal.
Project Focus
- Strengthening Supply Chains: The initiative will address gaps in Nepal’s fortified rice supply chain, including procurement, data management, and workforce skills.
- Knowledge Exchange: Nepali stakeholders will learn from India’s Public Distribution System and its use of digital technologies in beneficiary management, storage, distribution, monitoring, and grievance redressal.
- Three-Phase Rollout (12 months):
- Phase I – Needs assessment and stakeholder consultations
- Phase II – Study visit to India for Nepali officials with hands-on training
