Matsya Shakti Project
On 28th August 2025, Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying inaugurated the “Matsya Shakti” project, jointly implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs and the ICAR–Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI).
- The project comes under Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan (PM VIKAS) scheme.
About the Project
- It is designed to empower minority fishing communities.
- It aims to equip participants with comprehensive skills for improved livelihoods and community welfare.
- The initiative will be implemented by the Vizhinjam Regional Centre of the ICAR–Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.
