Sustainable Aviation Fuel
On 13th August 2025, in a landmark achievement for India's clean energy future, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IndianOil) became the first in the country to receive the prestigious ISCC CORSIA Certification for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production at Panipat Refinery (Haryana).
What is Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)?
- It is a biofuel made from sustainable feedstocks and shares a similar chemical composition with conventional aviation turbine fuel (ATF), which is derived from crude oil.
- As a result, current aircraft engines can operate on a SAF-ATF blend without modification.
