Apophis Asteroid
- The European Space Agency (ESA) has launched a mission to study the Apophis asteroid, which will pass remarkably close to Earth in 2029.
- Apophis will pass within 32,000 km of Earth in 2029; a rare opportunity to observe an asteroid of its size from such close proximity.
- The mission, named the Rapid Apophis Mission for Space Safety (Ramses), is part of ESA's Space Safety program and aims to gather crucial data on the asteroid.
- The Ramses spacecraft will approach Apophis before it reaches its closest point to Earth and will accompany it along its path, similar to NASA’s planned OSIRIX-APEX ....
