NSE Issues Rulebook for Retail Algorithmic Trading
On 23rd July 2025, amid growing retail participation and the surge in algorithm-based trading, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) released a comprehensive set of guidelines to regulate retail algorithmic (algo) trading, effective from August 1, 2025.
- This follows SEBI’s February 2025 circular aimed at addressing regulatory gaps and enhancing investor safeguards.
What are the key highlights of the new framework?
Mandatory Registration of Algo Strategies
- All retail algo strategies must be registered via brokers and will receive a Unique Algo ID from NSE.
