Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission: India's Digital Health Backbone

In July 2026, the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission has achieved a major milestone by linking over 104 crore health records with more than 93 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts.

What is ABHA?

Health ID

  • 14-digit unique digital health ID under ABDM.

Objective

  • Enables paperless, portable and consent-based health records.

Digital Health Records

  • Stores and links health records across healthcare providers.

Consent-Based Access

  • Records shared only with patient consent.

Interoperability

  • Seamless access to records across hospitals and states.

Scan & Share

  • QR-based OPD registration; reduces waiting time to 2–5 minutes.

Integrated Platform

  • Connects patients, hospitals, labs, pharmacies and insurers.
