Index of Services Production: A Window into Services Sector Performance
In July 2026, Centre released the first sub-sectoral trial Index of Services Production (ISP) for 19 sub-sectors for April 2026, covering ~60% of the services sector.
What is ISP?
About
- It is India's first high-frequency index dedicated to tracking changes in services sector output.
Purpose
- To provide a timely assessment of short-term movements in the production of services.
Data Ecosystem
- Three main data sources are used for compiling the ISP: administrative data, GST and Annual Survey of Incorporated Services Sector Enterprises (ASISSE)
Measuring Services Output
- The ISP tracks short-term changes in the volume of services produced. ....
