India-Australia Annual Summit 2026
On 9th July 2026, India and Australia announced 18 outcomes to deepen defence, technology, energy, trade and Indo-Pacific cooperation.
- The summit marked a shift from political convergence to long-term strategic and economic integration.
Major Outcomes
Defence and Security Cooperation
- Adopted a Joint Declaration on Defence and Security Cooperation, replacing and expanding the 2009 framework.
- Prioritised interoperability, maritime security, cyber security, defence industry collaboration and emerging technologies.
- Agreed to increase military exercises, information sharing, training, joint research and defence industrial cooperation.
- Established an Annual Defence Ministers' Dialogue.
- Launched the India-Australia Defence Innovation Corridor to connect defence startups and industries.
