Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS)
On 15th July 22026, the Union Cabinet approved the Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS) following the completion of the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Large Scale Electronics Manufacturing (PLI-LSEM) in March 2026.
About the Scheme
- It is a five-year Central Sector Schemeaimed at scaling up mobile phone manufacturing, increasing domestic value addition, strengthening supply chain resilience and enhancing India's global competitiveness in electronics manufacturing.
Objectives
- Increase domestic production and exports of mobile phones.
- Deepen domestic value addition and localisation of components.
- Strengthen resilient electronics supply chains.
- Promote Indian mobile brands, design capabilities and R&D.
