India–Malaysia Bilateral Ties Strengthened

On 7-8 February 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Malaysia at the invitation of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim; both leaders reviewed bilateral ties and advanced the India-Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through cooperation across trade, defence, digital economy, energy, and regional issues.

Key Outcomes

  • Strategic and Security Cooperation
    • Agreements were signed on security cooperation, UN peacekeeping, combating and preventing corruption, and disaster management.
    • These agreements reflect deeper coordination in defence, governance and institutional capacity-building.
  • Emerging Technologies and Industrial Collaboration
    • An MoU was concluded on semiconductor cooperation along with collaboration in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
    • This strengthens advanced manufacturing linkages and industry-oriented skill development.
