India-New Zealand Strategic Partnership

On 11th July 2026, India and New Zealand elevated bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership and adopted a Roadmap to 2030 to expand cooperation across defence, trade, maritime security and emerging sectors.

Defence and Maritime Cooperation

  • Signed a Memorandum of Arrangement on Maritime Cooperation between the Indian Ministry of Defence and the New Zealand Defence Force.
  • Agreed on Mutual Logistics Support between the Indian Navy and the New Zealand Defence Force.
  • Signed an Implementation Arrangement on Hydrography and Nautical Cartography for navigational charts, hydrographic data sharing and capacity building.
  • Established a Maritime Security Dialogue.
