India-Indonesia Deepen Strategic Partnership

On 7th July 2026, India and Indonesia signed key defence and economic agreements, expanding cooperation in missiles, critical minerals, maritime security, digital connectivity, agriculture and trade.

Key Points

  • Defence Cooperation: Both countries elevated defence ties through cooperation on the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile system and ASTRA beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles.
  • Maritime Security: The two sides agreed to strengthen maritime cooperation through joint exercises, information sharing, hydrography, port calls, capacity building and cooperation at the Information Fusion Centre-Indian Ocean region (IFC-IOR).
  • Defence Industry: India and Indonesia will promote joint production, technology transfer, defence research, shipbuilding, MRO facilities and resilient defence supply chains.
