Comet C/2023 A3
- Bengaluru’s sky recently displayed vibrant colors due to the close approach of Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS).
- Comet C/2023 A3, discovered by China’s Purple Mountain Observatory, is a non-periodic comet, meaning it has no predictable return.
- The comet is visiting the Solar System after nearly 80,000 years and is traveling about 129.6 million kilometers away from Earth in the Sextans constellation.
- The colorful sky, which some mistook for aurora lights, was due to the comet's iridescent glow.
