Military Combat Parachute System (MCPS)
On 16th October 2025, India successfully carried out a high-altitude combat freefall jump from 32,000 feet using the Military Combat Parachute System (MCPS), developed indigenously by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
- Developed by DRDO’s Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment (Agra) and Defence Bioengineering and Electromedical Laboratory (Bengaluru).
- The MCPS is the only parachute system in operational use by Indian Armed Forces capable of deployment above 25,000 feet.
- The system offers a lower rate of descent, enhanced steering capabilities, safe exit from aircraft, precise deployment at predetermined altitudes, accurate navigation, and landing in designated zones.
