Email Policy of Government of India, 2024
On 30th October 2024, the Union government announced the Email Policy of Government of India, 2024, aimed at streamlining and enhancing the security of government email communication. The policy outlines how government departments and bodies must use the National Informatics Centre's (NIC) NICeMail service.
Key Features of the Policy
- Specific Email Domains for Government Employees: The policy mandates that government employees have email addresses specific to their service or position. For example, an IPS officer’s email address will end with @ips.gov.in rather than a generic @gov.in address.
