Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity
On 23rd May, 2022, the United States launched the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF). This economic initiative came a day before the summit of the Quad leaders in Tokyo.
About IPEF
- It is a US-led initiative that aims to aims to strengthen economic partnership among participating countries to enhance resilience, sustainability, inclusiveness, economic growth, fairness, and competitiveness in the Indo-Pacific region.
- India became one of the members of this 13-nation initiative. The other members are: the US, Japan, Australia, Brunei, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
- The grouping represents about 40% of global GDP.
