Strengthening Food Security and Nutrition for an Inclusive India
Recently, the State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI) Report 2026, released by the FAO and other UN agencies, estimated that 645 million people faced hunger globally in 2025. Although hunger has declined marginally, the world remains off track to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)-2: Zero Hunger by 2030.
- The report highlights the growing impact of conflict, climate change, food inflation and unaffordable nutritious diets, reinforcing the need for India to strengthen food security while addressing persistent malnutrition and nutritional inequality.
