India's Bioeconomy Blueprint: NITI Aayog's Roadmap to 2035
On 16th July 2026, NITI Aayog released the report under the title- "Roadmap for Building India as a Leading Bioeconomy Powerhouse by 2035."
- The roadmap outlines a mission-mode strategy to accelerate India's bioeconomy through coordinated policy, innovation, and investment.
Vision and Targets
- Transform India into a global bioeconomy powerhouse by 2035.
- Expand the bioeconomy from US$10 billion (2014) and US$195.3 billion (2025) to US$691 billion by 2035 and US$2.6 trillion by 2047.
- Increase the bioeconomy's contribution to GDP and position India as a global biotechnology innovation and biomanufacturing hub.
- Create over 30 million high-value jobs in biotechnology, healthcare, agriculture, industrial biotechnology, and environmental biotechnology.
