Strategic Roadmap for Making Ayurveda Global
On 2nd July 2026, NITI Aayog released the report "Strategic Roadmap for Making Ayurveda Global", outlining a long-term strategy to transform Ayurveda into a globally accepted, evidence-based, and integrated healthcare system.
- The report evaluates Ayurveda's current international standing, identifies key opportunities and challenges, and proposes a phased roadmap extending up to 2047.
Current Global Status of Ayurveda
- Rising Global Market Presence: Exports of Ayurveda and herbal products have nearly doubled from USD 1.09 billion in 2014 to USD 2.16 billion in 2023, with products reaching nearly 150 countries.
- International Recognition: Around 30 countries recognise Ayurveda through different regulatory, licensing, or academic arrangements.
