One Day One Genome

  • Over the past 5 months, the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) have been releasing detailed graphical summaries, infographics, and other details of over 100 bacterial genomes as part of the ‘One Day One Genome’ initiative launched to harness the microbial potential of India.
  • The initiative aims to make microbial genomic data accessible to researchers, students, and the general public by releasing one fully annotated bacterial genome every day.
  • Coordinated by BRIC-National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG), the program features contributions from 13 BRIC institutions and two autonomous bodies—ICGEB New Delhi and RCB Faridabad.
