SkyCast System

On 29th May 2026, Centre inaugurated India's first SkyCast System at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), New Delhi, marking a major step towards weather-smart and safer aviation under Mission Mausam.

Key Features

  • India became the 19th country in the world to deploy an integrated aviation weather monitoring system.
  • SkyCast provides real-time weather intelligence to pilots, airlines and air traffic controllers, helping reduce delays, diversions and cancellations caused by fog and turbulence.
  • The system continuously monitors atmospheric conditions up to 3 km above the airport.
  • It combines multiple advanced atmospheric observation technologies into a single aviation weather intelligence platform.
