Varya: Indigenous AI Video Generation Model

On 12th June 2026, the IndiaAI Mission launched Varya, an indigenous AI-powered video story generation model developed by Avataar.ai.

  • Varya is designed to generate high-quality videos from text prompts or images, making AI-based video creation affordable and accessible at population scale.
  • Varya uses a distillation technique, reducing video generation from 50 processing steps to just 4 steps while maintaining comparable output quality.
