BrahMos Missile Exports to Vietnam and Indonesia

Recently, Defence Secretary stated at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore that India has already signed a BrahMos missile export deal with Vietnam, while a similar agreement with Indonesia is in its final stages.

Key Developments

• Vietnam has reportedly signed a deal to procure the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, although an official public announcement is yet to be made.
• The Philippines remains the first foreign buyer of the BrahMos missile system, having signed a contract worth nearly USD 375 million in 2022.
• The agreements reflect India's growing defence cooperation with Southeast Asian countries and its emergence as a defence exporter.
