- According to the Central Ground Water Board, 14.18% of groundwater units are in the over-exploited or critical category, leading to a 20.68% increase in electricity consumption in agriculture (2019-2024).
- According to the 6th Minor Irrigation Census (2017-18), 94.7% of the country’s 23.14 million minor irrigation schemes are entirely based on groundwater.
