- Under the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), school education is categorized into Foundational, Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary stages.
- Class 8 enrollment in India has increased from 11 million in 2005-06 to 22 million in 2020-21.
- According to the ' Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2023 report, more than 95% of youth are enrolled in school at age 14, but this figure drops to 67.4% by age 18.
- Only 5.6% of youth in the 14-18 age groups are enrolled in vocational courses, and 80% of working youth are engaged in agricultural work.
