Rising Atmospheric CO2 & Human Health

  • According to a study published in Air Quality, Atmosphere & Health, rising atmospheric CO₂ levels are altering human blood chemistry.
  • Historically, humans evolved in environments containing 200–300 ppm of CO₂, but atmospheric CO₂ levels have now reached nearly 430 ppm.
  • The study found that blood bicarbonate (HCO₃⁻) levels have increased by about 7% in line with rising CO₂ concentrations.
