Delhi Declares 670 Hectares of Central Ridge as Reserved Forest
On 13th May 2026, the Delhi Government declared around 670 hectares of the Central Ridge as a “reserved forest”.
- The Central Ridge, spread across about 864 hectares, forms part of the larger Delhi Ridge system, often referred to as the “green lungs” of Delhi.
- The Ridge was first notified as a reserved forest in 1994 under Section 4 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927, and the latest notification under Section 20 completes the legal process after more than 30 years.
- The Delhi Forest Department also proposed developing themed forests such as Tirthankara Van, Ritu Van, Rashi Van and Panchvati Van within ....
