India Abstained on UNGA Climate Resolution
On 20th May 2026, India abstained from voting on a United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution related to climate change obligations, stating that the resolution undermined the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

- Titled: “Advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on the obligations of States in respect of climate change.”
- Resolution welcomed: 2025 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
